Supportive and Creative Experiences for Individuals Affected by Critical Illness

Sawtooth’s Art + Wellness Program provides supportive art experiences for patients, survivors, and caregivers impacted by critical illness. We partner with sixteen healthcare organizations across Winston-Salem and Forsyth County to bring hands-on workshops and transformative art experiences into cancer treatment centers, medical hospitality homes, and other care facilities.

Offering visual art experiences designed to promote stress reduction, relaxation, mood elevation, and overall well-being, our decade-old program also plays a vital role in Wake Forest University’s Arts-on-Prescription (Arts Rx) pilot initiative and provides hands-on art kits for homebound seniors through a partnership with Senior Services’ Meals-on-Wheels program.

If you are part of a healthcare organization looking for more information, or if you’re seeking services for a loved one, please reach out to Betsy Messick, Director of Art + Wellness, Textiles, and Community Engagement.

Financial support is generously provided by the Greer Foundation, alongside other partners and community support. Donations help provide supportive art experiences through Art + Wellness, youth outreach partnerships, and scholarships and financial aid — so that more people can access the creative opportunities Sawtooth offers. Consider making a gift here.
