Youth Classes & Workshops

Sawtooth’s Youth Program is a haven for young artists and creatives, helping students develop their skills while connecting with like-minded kids their age. Our classes and workshops are led by experienced, talented instructors who have developed age-appropriate experiences that are both fun and educational. Our students get to work with high-quality materials and equipment, while learning from the best and developing critical thinking, self-confidence, and the ability to communicate and express themselves. From traditional drawing and painting to digital art, crochet, knitting, printmaking, and more, we have something for everyone.

Bringing Imagination to Life

Sawtooth’s Youth Program is a haven for young artists and creatives, helping students develop their skills while connecting with like-minded kids their age. Our classes and workshops are led by experienced, talented instructors who have developed age-appropriate experiences that are both fun and educational. Our students get to work with high-quality materials and equipment, while learning from the best and developing critical thinking, self-confidence, and the ability to communicate and express themselves. From traditional drawing and painting to digital art, crochet, knitting, printmaking, and more, we have something for everyone.

Scroll below for a quick summary of our different class types and sessions, from Saturday workshops to summer’s Camp Sawtooth and plenty in between. Keep in mind that our Youth offerings are divided into three age ranges: 6-8, 9-11, and 12-17. It’s important to adhere to these age guidelines to ensure that little artists thrive and succeed.

Youth Classes & Workshops

Throughout the year, we provide young artists with a specialized and advanced studio arts experience that is not always available in schools. We offer a wide range of disciplines, including drawing, painting, mixed media, printmaking, textiles, photography, glass, metal, wood, digital art, ceramics, and more. The programs are tailored to students' ages, providing opportunities to develop technical skills, critical thinking, self-confidence, and the ability to express themselves effectively. The age ranges are 6-8, 9-11, and 12-16. Sawtooth offers four sessions yearly: Winter, Spring, Camp, and Fall.

Weekly Homeschool Classes

Offered on weekdays (Monday through Thursday) from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, these 3-to 6-week courses or one-off classes are structured similarly to traditional afterschool programs. They provide an excellent opportunity for homeschooled students to develop their creative skills in a safe and supportive environment.

CAMP SAWTOOTH!
June 8 – July 31, 2026

Our 8-week summer camp offers classes for students aged 6-8, 9-11, and 12-16 in the morning and afternoon. The Morning classes run from 9 am to 12 pm, while the Afternoon classes are scheduled from 1 pm to 4 pm. We hope this provides you with optimal flexibility in choosing a class time that best suits your schedule. Our classes have a maximum of eight students, and an intern is available to assist in the classroom. See the full schedule and learn more about Camp Sawtooth here.

Weekly After-School Classes

Offered on weekdays (Monday to Thursday), our afterschool classes consist of 3- to 6-week courses with various time slots available: 4:00-6:00 PM, 4:30-6:30 PM, 5:00-7:00 PM, or 6:00-8:00 PM. (Later times are reserved for older students.) These classes provide students with an excellent opportunity to thoroughly explore their favorite subjects. Each session allows for an in-depth investigation of the topic, helping learners gain a deeper understanding of their selected medium.

Saturday Morning Classes + Workshops

We occasionally offer classes and workshops on Saturday mornings, giving students the opportunity to start their weekends creatively. Our one-day workshops cover specific skills or subjects and serve as an introduction for young learners. In contrast, our 3-to-6-week classes meet regularly, guiding students towards a deeper understanding of their chosen medium. Saturday mornings are some of our most popular times for classes and workshops, making it a wonderful opportunity for kids to connect and make new friends with other creative young people.
