Art Has the Power to Change Lives
Sawtooth’s mission is to provide hands-on, high-quality visual art experiences for everyone: regardless of age, background, or skill level. Through our variety of community outreach programs, Sawtooth continues to expand access to the arts across our region—including our acclaimed Art + Wellness program, initiatives for youth, and scholarships for all.

Art + Wellness
Sawtooth’s Art + Wellness Program provides supportive art experiences for patients, survivors, and caregivers impacted by critical illness. We partner with sixteen healthcare organizations across Winston-Salem and Forsyth County to bring hands-on workshops and transformative art experiences into cancer treatment centers, medical hospitality homes, and other care facilities. Rooted in the connection between creativity and well-being, these programs create space for reflection, expression, and healing.
Scholarships + Financial Aid
Scholarship and financial assistance programs, along with reduced pricing for students and educators, help make classes more accessible to individuals and families of all income levels. We are proud to offer a robust amount of full and partial-scholarships, along with standby discounts for educators and students, each session, with applications accepted on a rolling basis.
Youth Outreach
Sawtooth connects directly with local schools and community partners to ensure all children have opportunities to engage in creative learning. We host numerous field trips, help organize private workshops for home-school groups and art clubs, and bring hands-on art activities to school events, career days, and area festivals. Thanks to generous funding from the Windgate Foundation, we also have a special scholarship fund supporting field trips for students from public Title I schools.
