From Scraps to -Scapes: Painted Paper Collage
Explore the fun and expressive freedom of painted paper collage. Students will begin by making creatively textured and colored paper using a variety of mediums — gouache, acrylic, pencil, crayon, etc. — and application techniques like painting, dripping, splattering, scribbling, and so forth. Students will gain confidence with collage shape-making and application skills by first creating small, imaginative pieces.
Then, working from reference landscape photographs, students will construct larger, loosely realistic collages, learning to approximate color, texture, and composition to achieve a painterly, expressive look of the landscape using big and small bits of paper. All levels welcome.
Additional Information: Registration will close one month prior to the start of class.
