Tirso Martinez (he/him) is a retired Data Architect and former IT Director whose connection to Sawtooth spans more than three decades. First introduced to Sawtooth as a teenager, Tirso participated as both a student and apprentice, crediting the organization with helping shape his confidence, creativity, and professional development. Throughout his career, he advanced into leadership roles with organizations including Vanity Fair and GXO Logistics, while remaining deeply engaged in community services through organizations such as Piedmont Animal Welfare Association, Dress for Success Winston-Salem, Wake Forest University, and others.
Tirso describes Sawtooth as his “second home” and has maintained a lifelong connection to the organization, enrolling both of his sons in summer programs and continuing to champion arts education in the community. Now retired, he is eager to dedicate his time and expertise to ensuring Sawtooth remains a vibrant resource for future generations. He brings experience in strategic planning, technology, community advocacy, and fundraising, along with a unique perspective as someone whose life was directly shaped by Sawtooth’s impact. Tirso was encouraged to apply by both Lauren and Adam, and he is particularly interested in helping expand awareness of Sawtooth within Winston-Salem’s Latinx community.
