Frank Burton, MD (he/him) is a retired otolaryngologist and healthcare executive with a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades in medicine and healthcare leadership. Dr. Burton earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree from Northeast Medical University before completing his surgical residency at the University of Miami. In addition to his clinical practice, he held several leadership roles throughout his career, including Chief of Staff at Novant Health Thomasville Medical Center and Chair of the Thomasville Medical Center Foundation Board.
Frank and his wife, Frances, have been active Sawtooth students for several years, developing a deep appreciation for the organization’s role in fostering creativity, lifelong learning, and community connection. Through his extensive nonprofit and volunteer experience, including service with the Thomasville YMCA and significant fundraising leadership, Frank bring expertise in governance, community engagement, capital projects, and philanthropy. He is particularly passionate about expanding access to arts education and helping ensure that financial barriers do not prevent talented individuals, especially young people, from participating in creative opportunities. Frank was encouraged to apply by current board member Max Smith and looks forward to helping guide Sawtooth’s continued growth and impact.
