Shelly Reed is a ceramic artist based in Winston-Salem, NC. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, she specialized in both ceramics and painting, developing a multidisciplinary approach that continues to influence her creative practice today.
With more than 15 years of experience working in ceramics and 4 years of teaching experience, Shelly creates whimsical ceramic fantasy art inspired by mythology, aquatic life, and the quiet magic of storytelling. Her work combines imaginative sculptural forms with meticulous handcrafted detail, inviting viewers into enchanting worlds filled with wonder, curiosity, and discovery.
In addition to her studio practice, Shelly is a dedicated arts educator. She teaches youth art classes that focus on storytelling, creative exploration, and celebrating imagination. Through mixed media projects, and hands-on artmaking, she encourages young artists to develop confidence in their ideas while discovering new ways to express themselves.
As a full-time artist and mother of three, Shelly is passionate about fostering creativity both in the studio and the classroom. Her teaching philosophy centers on the belief that imagination is a powerful tool for connection, learning, and personal growth. Whether creating whimsical ceramic sculptures or guiding children through imaginative art projects, her mission is to bring creativity into everyday life and inspire a lifelong love of art.
