Katie Williams

Katie joined the Sawtooth board of directors in October 2021. A native of Virginia, she first came to Winston-Salem in 2012 to pursue a Master’s Degree in English from Wake Forest. After beginning her career in Development at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, she returned to Wake Forest, where she worked in Corporate and Foundation Relations for six years. Today, she serves as Grant Administrator for Native Americans in Philanthropy, an organization that works to reshape the philanthropic sector by applying Indigenous values to build more impactful and authentic relationships.

Just before the pandemic, and with no experience or talent as an artist, Katie enrolled in her first class at Sawtooth. What she thought would be a daunting class turned out to be an eye-opening experience where she learned new skills and discovered firsthand the value of artistic exploration. She looks forward to taking more drawing, painting, and ceramics classes at SSVA in the years to come.

Katie enjoys cooking, doing yoga, and hiking with her boyfriend Jonathan–whom she met in that first Sawtooth class–and their black lab mix Rory.
