SBC: Light, Shoot, Edit a Video Interview
Saturday Bootcamp is a series of one day advanced workshops focused on elevating your photo/video practice. In this workshop we will work as a collaborative group to shoot a series of brief video interviews. In the process we will cover the many layered aspects of shooting a video including: Lighting subjects with soft/flattering light techniques that range from Book Lighting to softboxes to using white pool noodles as diffusers for tube lights. Furthermore we will explore ideal camera angles and points of view for multicam recording and In depth explanation of the 180 camera angle rule. Sound capture will be illustrated with shotgun boom mics and, wireless, on talent, lavs. We will illustrate/discuss the pros/cons of in camera sound recording vs using an external recorder to capture dialogue. Finally, we take the raw footage and discuss color grading, editing, and multicam implementation via the free but professional software, Davinci Resolve, to produce a polished interview reel.
