Explorations of Color on Metal
Color is such a powerful tool for any artist! Join professional mixed media artist/metalsmith Andrew Thornton in this fascinating exploration of color on metal. This workshop will introduce you to both hot and cold applications to add color to your metal work. On Day One we will discuss how to prepare your metal for success and cover several different cold applications, including using colored pencils, paint, and lots more. On Day Two we will delve into hot applications, including an introduction to powder coating and vitreous enamel. On Day Three, your creativity will be unleashed and we will work with the techniques from the previous days. With Andrew's guidance and inspiration, you will create over 12 different samples and will have personalized instruction on how to achieve your color on metal goals! Metals experience is encouraged, but this workshop is designed for all levels, both beginners and long-time makers.
A $35 materials fee collected at registration will cover all materials for the workshop. Andrew promises the first two days will be rapid fire with a LOT of techniques and a third day full of what you loved most.
