PMC Foundations - Camp PMC Course 101
Camp PMC is the foundational certification course for working with PMC, the original Precious Metal Clay. This class provides a thorough grounding in the skills, techniques, and technical knowledge required for success with this amazing medium. Often taught as an intensive two-day workshop, this weekly class breaks things into manageable bites, offering the same material in a more relaxed eight-week format with more time to digest the material and extra project time!
Learn the fundamental skills required to work with silver metal clays and be successful with all PMC products by creating 5 beautiful projects. Learn and practice techniques including rolling, texturing, cutting, carving, sculpting, molding, refining, firing, and polishing - the required projects allow for an enormous amount of creative variation. Discuss firing processes and practice torch firing in addition to kiln firing. If you’ve ever been mystified while looking at firing instruction sheets, this class will guide you to a thorough understanding.
The 5 projects include a pair of earrings with a fireable stone, a double textured pendant with syringe detail, wrapped beads, a sculpted toggle clasp, and an adjustable wrapped ring with a fireable stone. The class will utilize PMC3, PMC Flex, and PMC OneFire 950 clays.
Upon successful completion of projects and lecture time, students will take a short written test. Upon passing the test, each student will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Sawtooth School for Visual Art and an 8% discount on all PMC clays at Clay Revolution and Rio Grande Jewelry Supply.
A kit fee will be payable to the instructor at the time of class, estimated cost is $150-$200.
