A CREATIVE HUB

Sawtooth School invites you to experience the various classes, workshops, and community programs housed within our historic Spruce Street campus. The facility is recognizable by the building’s unique saw–shaped architecture, symbolic of Sawtooth School as a creative maker-space and shelter for the arts.

A highlight of any visit is watching the creative process unfold in any of our sixteen studios located throughout the building!

The Eleanor and Egbert Davis Gallery features six exhibitions a year of local, regional and national fine art. We collaborate with curators and storytellers throughout our community to bring diverse and thoughtful exhibitions. The Marta Blades Gallery Shop is a gem within our city of fine arts and craft, showcasing works from Sawtooth School artists, instructors, and students.

SUPPORT SAWTOOTH ARTISTS

Discover works of fine art and craft, created by Sawtooth School instructors and students in the Marta Blades Gallery Shop. The gallery shop offers a diverse selection of artistic mediums and one-of-a-kind items ranging from fine jewelry, ceramics, textiles and wood-crafted items, to hand-made prints, paintings, sculpture and glass works.

Become a Sawtooth member and receive 10% off purchases in the shop. We also offer gift cards that can be redeemed for items in our shop and upcoming classes.

The Marta Blades Shop is open 9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday – Friday, and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday. The shop is closed on Sunday.

GETTING HERE

Sawtooth School is located at 251 N Spruce St., Winston–Salem, NC 27101.

A paid parking lot managed by the Arts Council is located on Spruce Street and is the most accessible place to park. Metered parking is available on Marshall Street and Poplar Street, and is free on weekends and after 6 pm on weekdays.

ACCESSIBILITY

Sawtooth School is housed in the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts, a facility which is fully ADA compliant. The main entrance on Spruce Street is accessible by ramp and you’ll find elevators that will bring you to Sawtooth’s campus on the second floor. Restrooms are located on the third floor and can be accessed through the elevator.

LOCATED IN THE CITY OF ARTS + INNOVATION

A visit to Sawtooth School immerses you in Winston-Salem’s vibrant and expanding arts community. We share the historic Sawtooth building with the Milton Rhodes Center for the Arts and HanesBrands Theatre. The neighboring Bookmarks bookstore, historic Stevens Center, and a/perture cinema all provide rich cultural experiences just a few steps away. Many Sawtooth School artists and instructors are active members of galleries in the Downtown Arts District Association on Sixth and Trade streets.
