Step beyond your comfort zone and discover the power of connection through portraiture in Portraits: Photographing Strangers. This 3-week class, meeting once a week for 2 hours, explores how the camera can serve as both a passport and a bridge—opening doors to meaningful interactions with people you’ve never met. Through a thoughtful, human-centered approach, students will learn how to engage strangers with empathy, respect, and curiosity. We’ll discuss how to initiate conversations, build quick yet genuine rapport, and create a collaborative environment where your subject feels seen and valued. The goal is not just to take a photograph, but to create an experience that is empowering for both photographer and subject. Photo Credit: C. Stephen Hurst ‘Triad AnimeCon’ 2026.
